The Brain Hidden Epidemic: Tapeworms Living Inside People’s Brains

“Nobody knows exactly how many people there are with it in the United States,” says Nash, who is the chief of the Gastrointestinal Parasites Section at NIH. His best estimate is 1,500 to 2,000. Worldwide, the numbers are vastly higher, though estimates on a global scale are even harder to make because neurocysticercosis is most common in poor places that lack good public-health systems. “Minimally there are 5 million cases of epilepsy from neurocysticercosis,” Nash says.

Florence's Nightingale: APA Made Simple

adenosinetriesphosphate:

I feel like such a jerk! I was just browsing through the nursing tags and I saw someone complain about APA and realized that I have never shared my class’ trick for APA.

If you haven’t already, I HIGHLY recommend you buy a kind of software like this as it has save my butt throughout nursing…

oh my god you are actually a life saver!

$20,000?? What University do you go to? I'm down at little old UTAS and we only pay $6,000, I think, a year. That's crazy.

Oh god im an idiot, i meant in total -.- and im at qut :)

WARNING!~PERSONAL UNI RANT!

So I’m in second year doing a bachelor of nursing. And I’m in a third year subject (me failing = catching up getting ahead blah blah blah)

ANYWAY. I am also in my second clinical placement unit. The rest of the people in my class are not. My clinical placement starts in week 12, while the third years have started/already doing it. As a result, we were told in week 9 we were supposed to do our big presentation while in week 12 everyone else is supposed to (since we start our prac rotations)

So i spend roughly over 2 hours on public transport getting to uni, to get there, to wander around, to try and find my class (which is one other person), and people are in our class. we go to our nursing co-ordinator and they have changed the dates. without telling us. they decided oh well, SINCE THERE’S ONLY TWO OF YOU WE DONT REALLY NEED TO MENTION IT.

I’D just like to put it out there that i still pay $20 grand a year for studying nursing. i still think uni is important. when somebody tells me my assignment presentation is due i turn up. and i am definetly not impressed when they think its okay not to bother calling, or emailing, or sending an annoucment out to tell us that what is on the assignment sheet is wrong because theres only two of us.
